Wet n Wild Mega Rocks Glitter Nail Color in Waiting for My Solo

wet n wild mega rocks glitter nail polish
I decided to indulge in my nail polish obsession and pick up a few wnw nail polishes. One of which is this beaut, Waiting for My Solo. It's a gorgeous gold glitter polish. I love glitter polishes but they are such a pain to remove... I think the color is beautiful enough that i'll endure it.
I purchased this for $3 at Walgreens and at the time there was a 40% off sale so I got a great deal. SCORE *twirls*

This glitter polish has two different glitters- a hexagonal glitter and a smaller glitter. I applied five to six coats and I would have been better off by applying a light pink or white nail polish first and then applying this nail polish. I wouldn't have needed as many coats. I did that on my right hand because I realized it was taking too long but clearly I thought I had all the time in the world to paint my nails. On my right hand I only used 3 coats meanwhile on my left hand I used 5-6 coats.

I love Waiting for My Solo, its such a lovely color and it looks amazing when out in the sun because it reflects light beautifully. It makes my hands look tanner and I got a ton of compliments on my nails. I owe it all to this bad boy.

No Poo Method: Alternative to Shampoo

J.R LIGETT'S SHAMPOO BAR COCONUT & ARGAN OIL
When I heard about the No Poo method, I was kind of grossed out by the name but I was interested in learning about what it's all about. I first heard about this method by watching a youtuber, Farah Dhukai. She talked about this method and I totally wanted to try it out as well. Lately, I have been using more natural products. I have been using natural products in my skincare and I have been avoiding products that contain harmful chemicals like parabens and SLS. I have been obsessed with iherb.com and to be honest I'm still learning about chemicals and products to avoid. But hey, baby steps.

The "No Poo" method is popular because shampoo is known to have harmful chemicals like sodium laurel sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate that strips your hair of its natural oils and leaves it dry. Your hair tries to compensate for that dryness and produces even more oil and the result is oily hair. Many people who do the no poo method experience softer, healthier and less frizzy hair. There are different methods to this such as using baking soda and rinsing with apple cider vinegar rinse, co-washing (using only conditioner), honey shampoo and shampoo bar.

As I am writing this post I have started my "No Poo" journey with J.R Liggett's shampoo bar. I purchased this on iherb.com for about approximately $3. I purchased the coconut & argan oil shampoo bar because I love the smell of coconuts and I thought that this shampoo bar will leave my hair smelling like it. I doesn't smell like coconuts! *cries*

My routine so far consists of washing my hair with this shampoo bar, rinsing it out with an ACV rinse and then using coconut oil on the ends of my hair. The ACV rinse that I am using is from this website, I have been using the same measurements of ACV and water but I have not been adding the other ingredients. I definitely recommend you add an essential oil of your choice because ACV smells bad! I will be buying essential oils to add to it because I cant stand the smell. I'll probably use lavender, coconut or vanilla essential oils. It's too soon to tell how I feel about the shampoo bar so I will post an update in a month.

J.R LIGETT'S SHAMPOO BAR COCONUT & ARGAN OIL

My hair is wavy and it is frizzy especially at the scalp. It is wavy and depending on the weather it gets kind of curly. An issue that I normally face with my hair is that it gets very frizzy in humid or rainy weather. No matter what products I use, if it rains or gets humid my hair will get frizzy. No product can tame my frizzy hair. These are my problem areas and in a month I will post an update. I hope that the no poo method will make my hair less frizzy.

China Glaze "Poinsettia" Nail Polish

china laze poinsettia nail polish
Poinsettia is from the China Glaze Let it snow! 2011 holiday collection. This is actually my first China Glaze nail polish so I was excited to try this out. I have tried O.P.I and Essie and Ive always heard people raving about China Glaze because its quality is similar to O.P.I and Essie but it is much cheaper. I picked this up at my local TJMAXX for $2.99 (SCOREEEE!)- they usually retail for $5.00. I recommend going to TJMAXX and checking out their beauty section.
Poinsettia is a bright red nail polish with no shimmer or glitter. It is sort of a creme and jelly finish. I like that it is very opaque, I applied two coats but I could have gotten away with just applying one coat. It is also very shiny- I did not have to apply a top coat but I applied one so it could last longer on my nails. In the picture above it is just poinsettia- no top coat and it looks so glossy. Overall, I like this nail polish. I have had it on for four days and it has not chipped. I look forward to trying more China Glaze nail polishes!

MAC 217 Brush and Imitation 217 Brush Comparison Review

Makeup brushes are important tools to have in your makeup collection. You can have high quality makeup but it wont look it's best if it isn't applied with the correct brush. I decided to buy the MAC 217 brush after reading so many positive reviews. Mainly due to the fact that it is a multi purpose brush, it can be used for blending eyeshadow, concealer and applying eyeshadow. I could not justify spending $25 on a brush but then I decided to splurge on it.

I don't regret my decision. It really is great for blending- it makes blending effortless. I couldn't believe it when I first used it. The bristles are super soft its the softest brush I've ever used. You can barely feel it on your lid. The bristles are goat hair. Another cool thing about the brush is its shape. It is an oval shape that fits perfectly in the crease. The handle is nickel plated. This brush is known for the numbering wearing off so I applied a coat of top coat on it.
I purchased this brush on Ebay thinking it may be a good dupe for the 217 brush. I purchased it for $1.16 from a Chinese seller and it took about 2 weeks to arrive and I bought it along with a 224 imitation brush. The brush is about the same size as MAC 217, the wooden handle is little thicker and the numbering is one the end of the brush. The brush is larger than MAC 217 . The listing for the brush does not state what kind of bristles it is made out of. The brush bristles are not as soft as the MAC 217.
The imitation 217 brush is thicker and bigger than the MAC 217 brush. It isn't ideal for those with small eyes.
I love the MAC 217 brush and I totally feel as though it is a must have brush- it makes blending your eyeshadow a breeze! If you cant buy this brush then I recommend giving the imitation 217 brush a try. Although it isn't a dupe of the 217 it is super cheap and still works for blending eyeshadows.

You Need This: Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara

I have to be honest- I usually just stroll past the Jordana display at Walgreens. I just wasn't interested. I have a Beautylish account (It's a beauty website where you can discuss beauty, makeup, skincare, fashion etc with other beauty obsessed people) and I love that app. It's on Beautylish where I discovered this mascara and its cult following. Since it's only $3 I figured why not give it a try. I'm always on the hunt for a mascara that will make my lashes look as if they're falsies.

I have been using this mascara for more than a month now and I have to admit that I am very impressed with this mascara. The formula is not wet and I like the shape of the brush, it's not large so I don't have to worry about getting mascara on my brow bone which tends to happen with mascaras with larger wands (*cough* Rimmel Scandaleyes). The mascara brush does not have plastic or rubber bristles. This mascara separates my lashes very well and they don't flake.

Here is my eye without mascara:
This is after one coat of mascara and I lightly applied some mascara on my lower lashes:

If you want to try a new mascara that won't break the bank then I totally recommend giving this one a try. It's only $3 so if you find that you don't like it then it's not that bad. Also, other bloggers have found that this mascara is similar or a dupe of a high end mascara. I haven't tried high end mascaras yet I feel that drugstore mascaras do the job for me so I cant comment on that.
Do you think you'll give a mascara a try?

Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish in "Trippin' on the Boardwalk"

This bright purple nail polish is from Wet N Wild's Limited Edition All Access Beauty collection for Summer 2014. This collection features bright nail polishes that are perfect for summer. I picked this nail polish along with a few other wnw polishes and the Fergie BB cream. This color reminds me of MAC heroine which is probably why I like this polish so much- I love bright purples. Trippin' on the Boardwalk is bright purple creme finish and it became opaque in two coats. This nail polish has the ManiCurve Pro Brush which made application easy.

May favorites!

Late April and May I purchased a ton of beauty and makeup and spent the entire month trying them out. There were a few products that I really like but there were others that I thought was going to love but I found that I did not like them at all.
NOW Solutions Coconut Oil- I placed an order on iherb.com and one of the things that I purchased was coconut oil because I have been reading up on all the benefits of it. I'm planning on using it on my hair and for oil pulling. I have been oil pulling for two weeks now and so far I have not seen a huge difference but I love the way my teeth feel after I use it. I place one teaspoon of coconut oil in my mouth, let it melt in my mouth if it is solid, I swish it in my mouth for about 10-15 minutes, spit it out in the wastebasket and brush my teeth & floss. The recommended time is 20 minutes but I feel that its way too long for me so I started with 10 minutes and I'm trying to work my way up to 20.

NOW Solutions Rose Hip Seed Oil- I have been using sweet almond oil since January 2014 as a night-time moisturizer and I purchased Rose Hip Seed Oil to go along with it because this oil is great for skin especially for those who have acne. I also like using this on my body- I just mix a couple of drops with my body lotion. I love using this oil because it leaves my skin looking radiant in the morning. I purchased this on iherb.com as well.

Jordana Best Lash Extreme mascara- This mascara is a cult favorite and I finally decided to try it out to see what all the hype was about. I must admit that I love the way that it volumizes my lashes and I love the size of the brush- it is not too long or big in size so application is not a hassle. I don't have to worry about getting product on my brow bone.

Bella Beauty Makeup Sponge- I am not a fan of makeup sponges because I feel like makeup brushes do a better job at applying makeup plus I don't have to worry about replacing them every few months. I picked this up at TJMAXX for $3.99 one day and I did not have high expectations for this sponge but it won me over. I like how it applies my foundation and concealer; it makes blending so fast and simple. I have actually been using it more than my brushes. I was so shocked! One thing that I don't like about this sponge that one the side of the clear plastic box that it comes in says that it contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer so now I don't think I will continue using it. That's the only downside to this sponge.

E.L.F Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in "Blushed and Bronzed"- I have been incorporating blush into my everyday makeup now because I like the way the pop of color on my cheeks look like. In the pan it looks very glittery but it doesn't transfer onto my face. It looks like a very natural blush color. I only use the blush as I do not use bronzer to contour. Most bronzers have glitter and are warm toned whereas for contouring you need a cool toned brown to define and slim the face.
