Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish in Sugar Coat

Wet N Wild Megalast nail polish Sugar Coat
I have this weird rule that I can only wear dark nail polish colors in the winter & fall and light colors in Spring & Summer. Since Valentine's Day is approaching I wanted to post a Valentine's Day Nail Art but I failed miserably. As a result, I decided to call it a day and use this polish as I bought it ages ago and haven't worn it- I figured I could wear a light color considering Valentine's day is around the corner. "Sugar Coat" is a lovely light pink sheer polish. It's perfect for a french manicure however, I like my polishes opaque- I applied 4 coats to get it to full opacity. Wear time is also great- I have had this polish on for 4 days so far and it hasnt chipped and Im sure I can get a couple more days of no chipping.

Luxe Acrylic Modular System

Organization is not fun. We all can relate to it- as makeup aficionados we amass a lot of makeup but then we face the dilemma of not knowing where to store it which leads us to store our stuff anywhere and its not esthetically pleasing and organized. A lot of bloggers have shared their makeup collection on their blogs and social media and we all admire how organized and fab it looks but lets admit its pretty expensive. This led me to go on the hunt for pretty storage items that don't break the bank.

My favorites are the Shabby Chic chest as its so pretty and I haven't seen anything like it. It seems perfect to store little bits and bobs. I'm also obsessed with the Miss Etoile canister and I can use it to store my makeup brushes. The Wooden Mirror Jewellery Box is perfect for me as I store my jewellery in a glass heart shaped dish; I will be able to store and organize all of my things in the box. The Heart Shaped Wooden Shelf is adorable and hopefully Ill be able to store some of my nail polish on it. The Clear 19 Compartment Cosmetic Organizer with Drawers is a economical option for makeup storage- it has a couple of drawers and you can store some lipsticks and miscellaneous things on top. The Luxe Acrylic Modular System is a very interesting option as you can buy each drawer separately and customize it according to your needs. If you need more drawers you can simply buy more and stack them. Easy!

A few of my favorite things from 2014

I know I'm late for this post and its probably a better time to post a monthly favorites but lets pretend that its still the first week of January and not almost February. 2014 in terms of beauty was fantastic for me. Last year was the time I was able to experiment more with makeup and delve into high end brands such as MAC.

Nyx blush in Terracotta: This blush is a beautiful peachy shade with lots of shimmer but it isn't overpowering. I love using it everyday and it has a lot of product- I haven't even made a dent in it.

MAC Fix +: This spray is a great multi tasker. It can be used to "set" your makeup, it can help tone down a powdery face, sprayed on an eyeshadow brush to make an eyeshadow have a metallic, more pigmented finish, and when I went on vacation to Colombia I would spray it on my face to cool down.

MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NC42: THIS IS MY HG CONCEALER. I have tried so many concealers and they do not compare to this concealer. You only need the tiniest bit, its full coverage and it can last you a year so the price isn't a big issue. The only downside is the fact that its glass packaging so make sure you don't drop it because it will shatter.

Wet n Wild Megalast eyeliner: Super black, matte and cheap. Enough said.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder: I love using this powder to set my concealer and foundation- it doesn't feel heavy on my skin. I have no complaints about this powder which is great because I was considering on buying MAC MSF Natural before I purchased this powder. I saved myself $30- sweet!

e.l.f Eyebrow Kit in Medium: I have already hit pan on it and I love using both sides to fill in and set my brows. This really keeps my brows in place and its such an amazing deal at $3.

Wet n Wild Coloricon pencil in Dark Brown: I have been using this pencil for YEARS to fill in my brows- I prefer this one more over my e.l.f one because its a slightly better color for my brows.

Wet n Wild Coloricon pencil in Black: I have also been using this pencil for a long time. Its super cheap and I use this on my lower lash line.

Small Kabuki Brush: I purchased this from ebay for less than $2. Its very soft and I love using this to blend my concealer. I'm definitely going to purchase more of these brushes.

Flat Top Kabuki Brush: My absolute favorite brush to apply foundation. I also purchased this brush from ebay and for the price that I paid this brush is phenomenal. The brush hairs are packed tightly so it makes blending a dream.

Review: Smashbox Mini Full Exposure Palette

Smashbox Mini Full Exposure Palette
The Smashbox Mini Full Exposure palette was created to be a smaller version of their best selling palette, the Smashbox Full Exposure palette. The Mini Full Exposure palette is a very small and cute palette- its a tad bigger than the palm of my hands which makes it perfect for on the go or travel. This palette has 8 shades; 4 glitters and 4 mattes.
Smashbox Mini Full Exposure Palette
Smashbox Mini Full Exposure Palette retails for $22 and you can purchase this at Ulta and Sephora. I purchased this for about $15 because I had a 20% coupon at Ulta and I used my points rewards as well.

Just like the Full Exposure palette you can use these eyeshadows wet and have a more pigmented and vibrant color. I really like using the glitter shades wet as they look more vibrant.
The glitter shadows include a rich chocolate brown shade, a gold shimmery shade, a white champagne shade and a dark gunmetal shimmery shade.
The mattes include a warm brown, a nude shade that's more on the warm side, a cream shade and a cool toned brown shade.
Swatches of the shadows with a wet brush:

My favorite shades are the first 3 glitter shades and the brown matte shade on the bottom left. The matte shades are very powdery and chalky which I don't like at all.

If this palette is anything like the Full Exposure palette then I can go without buying that palette. I have a love and hate relationship with this palette. Some of the shadows are powdery but I like the glitter shadows especially when used wet. However, I don't recommend buying this palette. The Smashbox Mini Full Exposure palette is a good example of how higher end products are not necessarily better than drugstore products.

Have you tried this palette or the Full Exposure palette?

Empties #3

Empties post with Mac prolongwear concealer, wet n wild eyeliner, garnier skincare and nicole by O.P.I nail polish
Nicole by O.P.I Kim Konfidential: I go through nail polishes very slowly. I have had this nail polish for about 4 years and I have finally finished it. This is from The Kardashian collection with Nicole by O.P.I. This is my favorite nude shade. Would I repurchase? Yes, if I can find it again.

Wet n Wild Ebony hates Chris: Hands down my favorite black nail polish. It's cheap, pigmented and it gets the job done. Would I repurchase? Already have.

Garnier Purifying Foam Cleanser for Combination Skin: I like how effective it is at removing my face makeup and I believe that it is great for combo skin as it doesn't overdry my skin and it leaves it feeling very clean. I also like the grapefruit scent, it lingers on my face for about 30 min to an hour after washing so for those who don't like any fragrance in their skin care products may not like this. In terms of fighting pimples, I don't feel like it did a great job.
Would I repurchase? No.

De La Cruz Sweet Almond Oil: MY FAVE OIL EVER. This is always in my empties posts because I go through this so quickly and I'm always repurchasing. Great for moisturizing your face, body, removing makeup and massages. Would I repurchase? Already have.

Wet n Wild Mega Liner: This is my favorite eyeliner from the drugstore. It is a great liquid eyeliner. It dries to a very black matte finish and it is longwearing! If you are looking for a matte eyeliner look no further- give this one a try. Would I repurchase? Already have.

MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NC42: This is my HG concealer and this concealer is worth every penny. This concealer is full coverage and it does not crease very easily. It doesn't crease on me. I have tried other concealers and they crease like crazy on me even after using setting powder- those concealers creased in fine lines I didn't even know existed. Prolongwear doesn't.
Would I repurchase? Yes!

My thoughts on JustFab

You have probably heard about JustFab from seeing their commercials on television. That is how I heard about this company and ultimately signed up. For those who don't know about JustFab- it is basically a shoe subscription where between the 1st-5th of the month you get charged 39.95 and you can use that credit towards the purchase of a JustFab item (they sell clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories) For this very reason, there is a lot of controversy surrounding this company.

After the 5th of every month if you do not select the "skip the month" option you get charged $39.95 so you have to be aware when its the first the month because they will charge you and they will not refund you.

JustFab does have some trendy pieces which is what drew me to that company in the first place. For instance, most of their pieces are similar to designer pieces so for those who want a designer handbag but cant afford it then JustFab is your best bet. Sounds great, huh? Trendy pieces for the low. Well, its not as great as it seems.

I own a several pairs of shoe and a handbag from JustFab and I have seen how JustFab items wear. I love my JustFab shoes because they're so cute but they break so easily. I own a pair of Ollah gladiator sandals which I love soooo much but they have broken 4 times and I fix them everytime because I love those sandals so much.
JustFab Ollah Sandals
I thought it was just the sandals that were defective so I didn't think much about it but then my favorite Tarina flats broke as well! The beads on the flats are sown on so when one bead comes off the others come off as well. After the fiasco with these two pairs of shoes I realized that I have the same problem with my other JustFab shoes. I have to constantly clean my Christian boots with the same stuff that you'd clean your leather boots because they'll dry up and crack if you don't. Absolutely too much maintenance for cheap shoes.

JustFab taught me a lesson to not sacrifice quality for quantity because cheap things simply do not last. The shoes that they sell are not worth the price tag. For those who are considering about joining JustFab I suggest you don't because you will not be satisfied with their quality and their customer service sucks.

2015 Blogging Resolutions

Source
The start of the new year brings along with it a set of resolutions that we all make and aspire to achieve. Some of us achieve our resolutions while others abandon or "forget" them. I made my blog in March of last year although my blog is still a baby, myself like all other bloggers wish that our blogs grow this year. As I want this blog to flourish I set a few goals for this year that I hope to meet.

Blog more often: My blog schedule is 2 posts a week- Sundays and Wednesdays. I have a busy life and when my spring semester begins its only going to get a LOT busier. For 2015 I want to have 3 posts a week.

Improve my photography: Pictures are a crucial component to your blog- you can gain or lose readers due to your pictures. Some bloggers I read solely because they have great pictures that look like they belong on a magazine. A picture is worth a thousand words so this year I want to have much better pictures. This means I have to spend more time working on lighting, placement and etc.

Invest in a better camera: The camera that I use now is a canon point and shoot. It gets the job done but it takes a little more work to get a good shot because I have to get the right amount of lighting and stuff. I like my camera but sometimes it doesn't work well when I want to take pictures of my makeup because it doesn't pick up the colors hence the lack of makeup look posts. I know a few girls who use the Nikon D3200, its a DSLR and it photographs their makeup so well. This camera is a really great deal for a DSLR so I'm saving up to purchase this camera.

Change my header & layout: My layout was done by me and it took a lot of trial and error- mostly error. My first header was done by my best friend but after I changed my blog name I had a new header done. I want to improve my blog's image by having a nicer layout and header.

Become more informed with google analytics & html: This is absolutely every blogger's goal. Google analytics and HTML are like totally different languages to me. I read articles about how to use them but they make no sense to me. I want to learn how to use google analytics and HTML to help my blog grow.

I hope that I achieve all of these goals and that my blog grows substantially this year.
What are your 2015 goals?

December Favorites 2014

I know how annoying it is when people talk about how the year feels like it flew by but it really does feel like it went so fast! It's 2015 and its time to share with you all my favorites for December.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: This stuff sucks for undereye concealing because it creases like crazy and its kind of overpriced in my opinion. I use this concealer under my foundation on my acne scars and it conceals them like a dream. I much prefer this concealer for concealing acne scars and redness than the undereye area.
Mac Fix +: This spray is amazing and its multi-purpose. I went on vacation in December to Cartagena and the weather was usually around the 90s but it felt like more than 100 degrees. I was constantly sweating and Fix + helped me cool off my face. I also like spraying my brushes with it to create a more pigmented and metallic finish to my eyeshadows.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder: I was eyeing Mac's MSF Natural powders to set my makeup but I couldn't justify spending $30 for a powder. I read a few blogs that claim that this powder is a wonderful drugstore dupe for the Mac powder so I decided to give it a try. I really like this powder, it feels lightweight and it definitely doesn't look cakey on my skin.

Maybelline Color Elixir in Caramel Infused: I have been wearing this color non-stop this month. Its a pretty color and its super natural like MLBB shade. It isn't too sticky and it doesn't wear off your lips quickly.

Merona® Satchel Handbag with Removable Crossbody Strap:It's a lovely small satchel that fits all of my things. This handbag has become one of my favorite and most worn things this month.

What products have you been loving recently?

Travel Diary | Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena is located on the Northern coast of Colombia and it is most known for its beaches and El Centro. One of its nicknames is "La Ciudad Amurallada" or the Walled City. My family is from Cartagena so we tend to go often to visit them and vacation in general. We spent the holidays in Cartagena and it was absolutely beautiful, the new governor put a lot of holiday lights in the city this year. There was more tourism this year than 2 years ago when I last went and I have noticed a lot more construction going on. Cartagena is truly growing at a rapid pace.

Without further ado this is Cartagena.
