Indie Love: Lonely Planet Liquid Lipsticks | Review & Swatches

While I was on my journey to find my favorite liquid lipstick brand I stumbled upon these lippies. Lately, I've been into trying Indie brands and this post is another addition to my Indie Love series on my blog.

Lonely Planet is an Indie brand run by Navil Rico on Etsy. These lipsticks are rocknroll inspired and are 100% handcrafted. Lonely Planet boasts a large selection of liquid lipstick shades and finishes. Plus most of their lipsticks if not all are vegan! LP's liquid lipsticks retail for $12 but you can get them for less during their holiday sales.

I must admit that these liquid lipsticks are one of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I own. They are very pigmented and apply effortlessly. I love how comfortable they feel on the lips and they aren't overly drying. However, one drawback is that they aren't transfer-proof so if you're looking a lipstick that won't budge then this may not your cup of tea. Despite this, I do find that they wear well during the day. Mind you, as with all liquid lipsticks, make sure you exfoliate and moisturize your lips well before applying this so it looks its best.

I purchased 4 shades and I'm in love with all 4 of them.

Solo in Soho is a true blue red- this looks beautiful on everyone. Everyone needs a lipstick like this in their collection.

Lori is described as a burnt orange red and I love how flattering it is on my skin tone- this shade is great for those who want to experiment with orange lipsticks as it is not too bright and out there.

Debbie is described as a universal nude and it is basically my MLBB color. I truly do think that this color will suit most skin tones.

Chatterbox is a metallic copper shade. I bought this shade because this color is very popular and very inexpensive compared to other brands. I like the color but this is a bit on the sheer side so for an opaque finish you'll need to add a few layers.

Lonely Planet is easily one of my top favorite liquid lipstick brands and I recommend you check them  out- especially since the Holiday sales are approaching.

Colourpop Haul!

colourpop up and away lipsticks lipgloss monster highlighter ultra satin lip

Colourpop has been killing the makeup game. Plus, they've been having sales and releasing new makeup almost everyday it seems like. As I'm writing this, I placed another sneaky order- they get me everytime.

Up & Away Lip Bundle: I got this bundle after seeing swatches on youtube. I've been gravitating towards terracotta nudes and oranges as I feel like they suit my skin tone best. It retails for $15 and it has 3 shades: Calypso (Ultra Satin Lip-mid tone nude), Love Bug (Ultra Matte Lip- Dark brown-terracotta), and Mama (Ultra Matte Lip- Burnt Orange). I love all 3 shades- they compliment my skin tone even calypso. However, I do find that there is a difference in formula between Mama and Love Bug. Love Bug is more drying than Mama and it settles in my lip lines. Mama's formula is lovely and it doesn't feel uncomfortable on my lips.

colourpop up and away love bug calypso mama swatches

Monster Highlighter: This is a pink duo chrome highlighter. It looks daunting in the pan but on my face I can't really see it but when the light hits it gives a pink shift.

Wink Ultra Satin Lip: I'm in love with dark berry pink lipsticks and this is in the ultra satin lip formula. I love the color but this never sets so it transfers a lot.

Nonsense Ultra Glossy Lip: Can you tell I have a little obsession with pink purple duo chrome? I decided to get a lipgloss with this duochrome color. I haven't worn it as much as I like but its a good lipgloss. Colourpop changed their packaging and it feels like its better quality than their old ones.

What have you bought from Colourpop lately- any recs?

Bite Matte Creme Lip Crayon | Cava, Glace, & Red Velvet

bite matte creme lip crayon cava glace red velvet

I was lucky to receive a voxbox from Influenster for their Bite Beauty campaign. If you are unfamiliar with Influenster, its basically a website where you can review products and occasionally they send you boxes with products to try and review. Influenster sent me a Bite Beauty voxbox with a few of their new Matte Creme Lip Crayons.

Bite's Matte Creme Lip Crayons are their new release and Bite describes them as:
"Bite Beauty's latest breakthrough formula boasts a collection of beautiful nudes, striking reds, and deep burgundies with a matte yet moist texture. The secret is the moisture-locking power of orange peel wax along with the antioxidant properties of resveratrol. Each gorgeous shade is water-resistant and long wearing. "

These Matte Creme Lip Crayons retail for $24 and are available at Sephora and Bite Beauty. These lip crayons contain 0.05 oz of product. I received Cava, Glace, and Red Velvet. There are about 19 shades available ranging from a stark white shade and some dark vampy shades.

These lip crayons have Bite Beauty's standard packaging. The crayon twists up and there is a cap on the bottom with a sharpener. They remind me a lot of elf's matte lip crayons but better quality, of course. However, both the Bite and ELF lip crayons contain the same amount of product but ELF doesn't have the same number of shades available.

They are very pigmented and glide on smoothly. I get about 3-4 hours of wear. I find that they don't dry to a full matte finish but they are comfortable to wear. Mind you, these are not transfer proof so they do transfer if you eat or wipe your lips.

bite beauty matte lip crayon glace swatch

Glace is described as a dusty mauve. It's my favorite shade out of the three that I received. It's basically my MLBB color and looks so natural.

bite beauty matte lip crayon cava swatch

Cava is described as a lilac beige. It's my least favorite for apparent reasons. Cava is super light on me and I'm not a fan cool toned lilac lipsticks. For reference, I'm NC-42 in MAC and I definitely need to pair this with a brown lip liner to make it work. Cava would look best on fair skin tones and for WOC, a lip liner is necessary.

bite beauty matte lip crayon red velvet swatch

Red Velvet is a blue toned red- can't go wrong with it. This will complement most skintones and the formula is so pigmented and applied effortlessly.

Bite Beauty Creme Matte Lip Crayons are worth the price and there is a large selection of colors to choose from. I'm so happy that Influenster sent me this voxbox because I haven't tried that many products from Bite Beauty and I have heard so many nice things about Bite's products- these Matte Lip Crayons are live up to the hype of Bite Beauty.

Bite Beauty Multi-Sticks Swatches: Blondie, Cocoa, & Macaroon

bite beauty multisticks cocoa blondie macaroon swatches nc42

I have to preface this unboxing-first impressions post by saying that this is by far the coolest Influenster voxbox I've ever received. Seriously, if you haven't joined Influenster yet then please do. You get sent free products to review- can't get any better than that. Now that I've said this, lets move  onto the first impressions.

I've never tried Bite Beauty before and I always wanted to as I've heard wonderful things about their lipsticks. Bite Beauty products are also formulated without petrochemicals and silicone. The Multi-Stick is a multi functional lipstick, blush, cream eyeshadow, etc. It is supposed to apply creamy and set to a powder like finish. They are meant to be ideal to use on the go and you can basically use it as you please. I received 3 shades from Influenster: Blondie, Macaroon, and Cocoa.
bite beauty multisticks cocoa blondie macaroon swatches nc42

Blondie is a nude almost my skin tone
Cocoa is a dark chocolate brown
Macaroon is a dusty rose

Retails for $24 at Sephora
Formulated without:

Blondie is a little too light for me to use on the cheeks- I could use this as a nude lipstick or on my eyelids. Cocoa is my favorite, I love brown lipsticks and I have been using this as a cream contour. Macaroon is a gorgeous color but I feel like this color doesn't suit me especially on my lips so I've been rocking Macaroon as a blush.

bite beauty multisticks cocoa blondie macaroon

Formula wise, the products looks very wet in the bullet as you can see in the picture. It is very creamy and it glides effortlessly. Pigmentation is very opaque so no complaints here. These multi-sticks are also very blendable and they aren't very intense- they give a very natural finish. They set to a powder finish so I didn't find that I needed to set this with a powder.

The packaging is very understated but functional. It has a magnetized cap so you don't have to worry about making a mess in your purse.

I love Cocoa but I don't really care for Macaroon and Blondie.
I love how functional these multisticks are and I have my eye on Anise.
Bite Beauty Multisticks are amazing for those days no makeup makeup days or you have to get ready on the go.

Don't get scammed: How To Tell If Your Kylie Lip Kit is Fake

How To Tell If Your Kylie Lip Kit is Fake

Kylie Lip Kits are probably the most popular makeup products. They are also very expensive and sell out like wildfire. With that being said, many have resorted to buying lip kits on Ebay or Mercari to get their hands on a lip kit. Most of the time, these lip kits get jacked up in prices or they're sold dirt cheap. Whether or not you're into buying fake makeup or just skeptical how authentic the Kylie Lip Kit you just bought is, this guide will teach you how to know if your lip kit is fake because no one likes to get scammed.

How To Tell If Your Kylie Lip Kit is Fake

The lip kit on the left is a fake Dolce K lip kit and the True Brown Lip Kit on the right is an authentic lip kit. Looking at them, they look almost identical but if you look closer the grill of the real Kylie Lip Kit changes color slightly in the light.
That is pretty much the biggest giveaway.

On the fake lip kit, Dolce K is spaced out slightly while True Brown K is not.
The font on the real lip kit is a little bolder and bigger.

Another big giveaway is the length, the fake lip kit is shorter and the packaging is made of plastic. Therefore, the fake Kylie Lip Kit is very light while the real Kylie Lip Kit is made of glass and has some weight to it.

Lastly, the letters on the fake lip kit are thinner and less dark than the real one. The letters on the fake lip kit look very worn out compared to the real one.

Those are the 3 surefire ways to tell if your lip kit is fake. Please keep in mind that if you are buying a lip kit and the price is very cheap then there is a good chance that its fake. If you buy a lip kit on Aliexpress just know that it is 100% fake. However, don't be afraid to report a seller if they do sell you counterfeit makeup and make sure to get a refund.

Be a more informed consumer and don't let yourself get scammed!

Sephora Haul | ABH & Dr.Brandt

I decided to treat myself to a few things from Sephora. I wish I could have picked up more goodies but I wasn't blessed with an infinite bank account balance. Most of the products are new releases from ABH (or new to me) and this were my first few ABH products so I was very excited to give them a try.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer: I need a lot of help hiding my pores and I wanted to try the best primer on the market. This primer has a lot of hype and I hope that it'll hide my pores. This is the travel size and retails for $17.

ABH A23 Brush: I absolutely love this brush for highlighting. It's soft, blends highlight nicely, and its overall an amazing brush. It retails for $25 and I think its worth it.

ABH Ashton Liquid Lipstick: I finally got my hands on it- these lippies were always sold out at Sephora when they first came out. I never tried ABH lippies before so I decided to pick this one up. Ashton is a beautiful yellow brown shade but its basically a dark nude on me and I love the formula as well. I love this lipstick so much that I bought another shade from the line as well.

ABH Sun Dipped Glow Kit: I swatched this in Sephora and I was in love with this glow kit immediately. There is a nice selection of shades that will suit most skin tones. The pans are removable which makes them very travel friendly. You get 4 pans for $40 so its a good deal. My faves so far are Tourmaline & Moonstone.

ABH Modern Renaissance Palette: I've heard so many positive reviews so I decided to pick this palette up. I love the shade selection and its something I don't already have in my collection. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and buttery. This is my first ABH palette and I'm not disappointed. Modern Renaissance palette retails for $42.

I can't wait to continue playing with them and you'll definitely hear my thoughts on them in my August Beauty Review. Ebates is offering 8% cash back on Sephora so if you're interested in any of these products be sure to join ebates and earn cash back while you shop! You'll get an automatic $10 cash back when you join :)

I also filmed a Youtube video on this haul:

Stay tuned to my youtube channel, I'll have a Kylie Cosmetics giveaway coming soon.

Nurbesten Makeup Brush Review

Nurbesten reached out to me and asked me to review one of their products. Nurbesten is a German makeup and beauty company. They sell a lot of the stuff you'd see on ebay and Aliexpress. I chose their 5 pcs brush set because I like these kinds of brushes. Last one I ordered from ebay lasted almost three years so it was time to get new ones.

These brushes retail for $22.99. A tad too expensive if you're from the U.S as these kinds of brushes retail for much less on Ebay and Aliexpress. However, if you live in Europe then the prices will seem more reasonable to you. Plus, they offer free shipping worldwide and they ship within 24 hours.

These brushes are dense and they haven't shed so far. There are a few brush hairs that are a little too long but I'm willing to overlook that. I also like the fact that they were nicely packaged and didn't smell of plastic when I first unpacked them.  My flat top brush and rounded brush gets the most love. My least favorite brush is the tapered brush but I tend to use it to blend my under eye concealer. Overall, I love these brushes and I find that these kinds of brushes are great for those who are new to makeup.

I have a code if you would like to buy from Nurbesten
Use LLD10 for $$$ off!

Disclaimer: Nurbesten reached out to me to review a product of my choice. I was not paid and all thoughts are my own.

My disaster with Kylie Lip Kit in True Brown K

Curiosity scammed the cat. Once upon a time, I loved the Kardashians. I loved watching their show and gossiping about them with my friends. I've realized now that they are very problematic and I stopped supporting them- that is until now. When Kylie released her lip kits I was interested but I didn't buy any because I didn't want to support the KKs. Not to mention, Kylie Lip Kits are expensive and I didn't have Kylie Lip Kit money!

When Kylie announced that she will sell her liquid lipsticks separately, curiosity got the best of me. I had been lusting after True Brown K for the longest and I figured it was the best time to try it. The liquid lipsticks retail for $17 plus shipping, the total came out to about $25 (more reasonable than $40). Her products seem to be selling out a bit slower so the whole shopping experience was fine. Handling was quick and my order was shipped on time. I even got my package a day before tracking said it would arrive so you could imagine I was very happy.

The presentation is lovely, I must admit. I guess that's where $7 shipping goes towards. The packaging is a discrete black box as there were many complaints that customer's boxes were being stolen because people could identify them. It is worth noting that a box may be a little too excessive for just a liquid lipstick- a small package would suffice.

Moving on to the actual product....
I was too busy taking pictures of the box and packaging to notice the major flaw of my lipstick.
I opened the lipstick and it made a mess. I got product on my hands etc. I realized that my liquid lipstick was missing the stopper and that's why it was so messy.

I emailed Kylie Cosmetics ASAP and it took a few days to get a response. I was a little shocked that I got a response as this isn't the first time they sold a lipstick without a stopper. However, those customers claimed that Kylie Cosmetics customer service didn't help them and did not offer to send them a replacement. Kylie Cosmetics is sending me a replacement lipstick so I'm very happy about that.

Despite the fact that they are trying to remedy the issue, it is apparent that they don't have much quality control due to the fact of several issues that they've had (i.e lip gloss wands, empty packages, defective product, half empty product etc)

Formula wise, True Brown K is very pigmented and doesn't settle too much in my lip lines. True Brown K also sets quickly but not too fast so you have time to apply the product on your lips. I don't find them very drying but the formula does remind me of Colourpop's Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks in a sense.

Overall, this mishap with Kylie Cosmetics turned me off from buying any more of her lipsticks. I like True Brown K and the price isn't too expensive. I do believe that this lipstick is nice as I love the shade but I don't find it to be anything extraordinary.

I filmed a video about this lipstick:

Have you tried any of Kylie's Lip Kits?

July 2016 Ipsy Bag

ipsy july bag 2016

This month's Ipsy theme is Hot Summer Nights: "low-key, laid back vibes of summer". The bag is gorgeous and well made. It has a holographic design and I love anything holographic so this bag is more my speed than the other ones. This bag included 4 full size products and a deluxe size product.

mellow cosmetics plum eyeshadow swatch

Mellow Baked Eyeshadow in Plum: A pigmented cranberry-plum eyeshadow. It is very pigmented wet and dry and I love the color. Retail price: $8

Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer: I'm stoked to have received this primer in my bag- I've never tried any Too Faced products before. This primer is supposed to be nourishing so I'm not sure if I'll like it as pore minimizing primers are my favorites. Deluxe sample.

Delectable Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream "Lemon and Cream": This is a very hydrating lotion that is formulated without harsh chemicals and parabens. I got the travel size which contains 2 fl oz which is a good amount of product. It has a nice light sweet lemon and creme scent. Definitely one of my favorite products from this bag so far. Travel size- Retail price: $5.50.

ipsy bag july ofra lip liner

Ofra Lipliner in "Maya": Gorgeous burgundy red color. It isn't a unique color but its a color that will flatter all skin tones. The formula reminds me a lot of Nyx lip liners. Retail price: $13.

Luxie Beauty Small Angled Liner Brush: This is a very cute brush, I love the pink and rose gold ferrule. Its bristles are very soft but the brush is firm so this will work well with applying gel liner and eyebrow product. Retail price: $10.

I am very pleased with this month's bag. In total, these products are worth $36.50, well over the $10 for the monthly membership. So far, I really like the stuff that I've been getting in my Ipsy bags. These products are very travel friendly and I will get a lot of use from them.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick: Nude Flush, Fuschia Ecstasy & Rich Red

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick: Nude Flush, Fuschia Ecstasy & Rich Red

I was very fortunate to have received a Influenster Voxbox with 2 of these Maybelline Vivid Matte lippies. I got Nude Flush and Rich Red in the voxbox and I purchased Fuchsia Ecstasy as I wanted to give a more thorough review.
These lipsticks retail between $7-8 depending where you purchase them from.

Maybelline's claims:
                                                                  Vivid, matte finish
Infused with pure pigments for high-impact color
                                                              Glides on smooth and hydrates
                                                                  Medium Coverage

I was very excited to try these liquid lipsticks as I am a lippie fanatic and I love to try liquid lipsticks. Since liquid lipsticks are popular now, so many makeup brands are scrambling to put out their own line. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with Maybelline's Liquid Lipsticks.

All three shades are vibrant colors and they do glide on smoothly; however, they fail to dry matte. I waited about 20 minutes to allow the lipstick to set but the lipstick is more of a cream rather than matte finish. Due to this, it transfers on the lips. If you want a matte finish, you will have to blot the excess off your lips and apply some translucent powder.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick: Nude Flush, Fuschia Ecstasy & Rich Red

Since they are medium coverage, you need to apply 2-3 layers to get maximum opacity. I do find that Rebel Red is more pigmented on the lips compared to the other shades. The applicator is a flat applicator and the packaging is pretty.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick: Nude Flush, Fuschia Ecstasy & Rich Red swatches nc42

Overall, I don't like these lipsticks. I like my liquid lipsticks to set so that they don't transfer as much. I really don't know what Maybelline was thinking with this range. The only pro is that the colors in the range are gorgeous and there are 10 shades to choose from.

What are your thoughts?

Beauty Subscription: Boxycharm June 2016

june boxycharm 2016 lvx ofra farmacy
Now that I've tried Ipsy, I'm have started to become very interested in trying more makeup subscription boxes. Makeup subscription boxes help me save a little money while I get to experiment with makeup plus its something that I can look forward to getting every month. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

I signed up for Boxycharm in the middle of June and they sent me June's box soon after. Boxycharm boxes retail for $21 each month and you can get a discount if you prepay for 3-12 months. The thing that most appealed to me was that you get full size or luxury size items whereas Ipsy provides mostly deluxe sample sized products. Signing up for Boxycharm was fairly easy as I was not placed on a wait list like Ipsy.

Without further ado, this is what I got in my June Boxycharm:
june boxycharm 2016 lvx ofra farmacy

Ofra Oil Control Pressed Powder: I'm stoked to have received the full size of this as it retails for $39.95. It is meant to control oil and to prevent this powder from washing you out, make sure to sweep excess powder off your face with a brush. Not gonna lie, I'm wary of powders like these because I'm afraid they are going to give me a white cast in pictures. However, I'm going to take the plunge and try this.

LVX Nail Lacquer: I love blue nail polishes such as this one. I haven't tried this yet so stay tuned to my Insta! This does not contain 5 toxic chemicals that are most commonly found in nail polishes and is vegan friendly.
  Retail: $18.00

FARMACY Coconut Gel Mask Medley

FARMACY Coconut Gel Mask Medley: This contains 3 sheet masks. I'm obsessed with sheet masks, they are so easy to use and don't make a mess like regular masks do. For these reasons, they are super travel friendly. I've tried one and I like it so far. I find that it does brighten my skin a bit. It's kinda annoying to use because it has 2 protective masks you have to remove in order to use the actual mask so make sure to read the directions.
Retail: $24.00

Girlactik Precise Eyeliner Marker

Girlactik Precise Eyeliner Marker: I've heard amazing things about this brand and I've been meaning to try their liquid lipsticks. I'm so happy to have received this because you can never have too many liners and I'm running out of my current liner.
  Retail: $20.00
Cougar Beauty Mineral Face & Body Shimmer
Left: Swatched                     Right: Blended out

Cougar Beauty Mineral Face & Body Shimmer: It's meant to work as a face and body highlighter. I'm not sure if I'll get any use out of this as this powder is super pale and I'm sure it will make me look ashy. This seems to be more geared towards those with fair skin. I might be able to use this on my collarbones and make sure to blend the powder very well. I don't think that this particular shade is suited for those who have darker skin tones.
Retail: $16.00

I'm very pleased with my first Boxycharm box. The box's worth is well over $100 and I only paid $21 so that's a great deal. All of the products are interesting and I like almost all of them. I totally plan on getting next month's box.

Ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag!

Ipsy bag, take two. This is my June 2016 Ipsy bag. I was not very pleased with my first bag which I showed on my Youtube channel. I was apprehensive about this month's bag because I was planning on unsubscribing or getting another subscription service. If you're new to Ipsy, its essentially a makeup subscription service where you pay $10 a month (more if you live outside the U.S). You get 5 deluxe or full size samples which cost well over $10 so you definitely get your moneys worth. Ipsy is personalized so you take a quiz and it gauges what kind of products you like and sends those to you each month. There are plenty of subscription services out there and Ipsy is one of the most inexpensive available.

This month's Ipsy bag's theme is Rebel Rebel. The bag has graffiti design on it with Ipsy written in random spots. I like the material that the bag is made out of. It's thick material and feels like its made out of great quality.

ipsy 2016 june bag the balm jouer

Meet Matte Trimony e/s "Marriage Material" Matte Kumar: This is a tiny eyeshadow sample but I don't mind because I rarely hit pan on e/s. This individual eyeshadow is from their Meet Matte Trimony palette. It is very pigmented and blendable.

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks "Peach Pink": It's supposed to be a blush but when swatched it looks more like a highlighter or a blush topper. Nevertheless, its very pretty.

ipsy 2016 june bag the balm jouer

Jouer Cream Highlighter in "Tiara": I was very excited to try this as I have heard a lot of Jouer hype on youtube. This highlighter is very sheer, you have to build it up for more intensity. I don't mind this as I have textured skin near my cheekbones and adding intense highlight isn't a good look. Highlighter is supposed to highlight an area so applying a lot of highlighter on textured skin just emphasizes that area.

ipsy 2016 june bag the balm jouer

Hey Honey Day & Night Moisturizing Cream: My favorite product from this bag so far. It is very moisturizing which is something I definitely need because I am using a BHA exfoliant and it leaves my skin super dry. This cream counteracts that and my skin looks kind of radiant after I apply it. I only use this at night because I wear a moisturizer with SPF during the day but I'm sure this layers well under makeup. I just may buy the full size.

Delectable By Cake Beauty, Everything Balm: I have nothing bad to say about this balm. It is super moisturizing similar to my Jack Black lip balm. It has no scent and I use it every night.

I like what I got in this month's bag. I like the theme and the bag. The products I received are much better than last month's bag. I can see myself using all of these products and I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to unsubscribe from Ipsy as I previously thought.

Dangers of Counterfeit Makeup

High end makeup is becoming increasingly more expensive and drugstore makeup isn't too far behind. Luxury brands like Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford are coveted but they cost an arm and a leg; unfortunately, a lot of us makeup lovers can't afford high end makeup but we want to try them.

Counterfeit makeup offers a simple low cost solution- you can buy them at a fraction of the real thing and they look almost exactly alike. So they should function the same, right? Well, no. The amount of detail dedicated towards the packaging of the product is not devoted towards the product itself. The result is unpigmented, chalky, and overall useless product. Not to mention, the strong possibility of them containing bad chemicals like lead and even feces.

While many women think counterfeit makeup can be harmless, its important to consider the fact the FDA found traces of lead in lipsticks of various brands ranging from high end to low end in 2011. If lead was found in authentic makeup then there's a higher chance of finding larger quantities of lead or other substances in counterfeit makeup. Therefore, buying counterfeit makeup can become dangerous and the product is very sub par.

Try to avoid shopping for makeup on sites such as Aliexpress and ebay. There is a very high likelihood that the makeup you're buying is fake and the likelihood is higher if its being sold at a much lower price than retail.

An Anastastia glow kit for $12? Definitely fake.
Kat Von D palette for $10? Definitely fake.
You get the gist of it.

Its much safer to buy makeup from trusted and reputable retailers. If money is an issue then save up and buy during a sale. If you're planning on buying makeup on ebay and amazon then keep in mind that even counterfeit nyx cosmetics has been sold on these retailers. Don't get me wrong, I love ebay but I only buy makeup brushes and lashes on there. Health is becoming a luxury these days and makeup is only makeup- don't jeopardize your health for something as temporary as makeup.

Have you ever purchased counterfeit makeup?
What are your thoughts?

May 2016 Favorites!

paula's choice bha liquid - nina ultra pro blue nail polish - wet n wild new brushes

I'm so sorry for the late monthly favorites post but at least its up. I've had a great month: I graduated from college, started my youtube channel, and went on vacation. The major downside is that I broke my makeup no-buy too many times to keep count. While I wasn't able to abide by my no-buy, I have been able to abstain from going crazy with makeup buying. In May I discovered a few gems that I want to share with you all.

Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant: I bought this for only $10! I am in love with this product. I suffer from acne and I find that this helps with my acne- I haven't experienced large cysts like I used to. The small bumps on my skin that I couldn't seem to get rid off have gone away. Plus, my acne scars are starting to fade a little bit.

Nina Ultra Pro Nail Lacquer "Ocean View": I've been obsessed with pastel and cobalt blue for some reason so when I saw this nail polish I could not help but buy it. I absolutely love this nail polish shade and the formula isn't too bad either. I bought this for about $4 at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Wet n Wild Blush & Powder Brushes: If you've been following my blog for awhile then you'd know that I'm a major Wet n Wild fan. Lately, WnW has been killing it with their new releases. I have yet to pick up their highlighters because they're so elusive but I did get my hands on most of their new brushes. The design is so cute and ergonomic as it has a small groove to rest your finger on the brush. The bristles are very soft and blend powders very well. I definitely recommend you pick up at least these 2 brushes out of the line.

CLOSED: Colourpop Matte X Lippie Stix | Review, Swatches & Giveaway!

Colourpop released a new collection of lippie stix. Matte X collection is claimed to be very matte and pigmented. Their matte collection isn't a true matte finish- more of a satin finish, to be honest. The Matte X collection is matte, pigmented, and comfortable on the lips. There are 15 shades within the collection which consist of nudes, pinks, bolds, and vampy colors. I picked up 6 shades because I love Colourpop's lippie stix. They retail for $5 each on

I picked up Cami, Topless, Chateau, Bootie, Poppin, and Back Up. I am very happy to say that I love these lippie stix. These lippie stix apply smoothly on the lips, no dragging at all. They are very pigmented and I don't find them drying. Mind you, you do need to exfoliate your lips because the dryness can be accentuated especially with the bolder colors. Wear time is great, I can get about 4 hours of comfortable wear. I find that it has a very smooth finish on the lips.

Cami: Neutral mauve pink. Everyday nude shade.
Chateau: Dark burgundy red. Beautiful fall vampy shade.
Bootie: Red-orange. Very bold and looks great on most skin tones.
Topless:  Bright yellow tangerine. Applies very streaky and a tad too light.
I wouldn't recommend this color.
Poppin': This was initially released during their anniversary sale a couple months ago.
Back Up: Mid tone plum. One of my favorite shades. Very similar to Mac's Heroine although Heroine isn't as matte.

Overall, I give the Matte X collection 2 thumbs up. I highly suggest you check them out. I love most of the shades with the exception of Topless- I find that it applies very streaky and its too light on me. If you do like it then maybe you'll have to pair it with a lip liner so it isn't as stark on the lips. Matte X lippie stix really lives up to its claims!

It's been a long time since I posted a giveaway so I decided to buy some shades to giveaway to you guys! So, I'm giving away 5 shades with the exception of chateau, sorry! I thought I bought it but apparently I didn't. One winner will win Cami, Bootie, Topless, Poppin, and Back Up.
